Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how What Changed? ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our competitive monitoring service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you sign up or sign in (including via Google).
- Monitoring configuration: URLs you ask us to track, notification preferences, and related metadata.
- Snapshot data: page content, screenshots, and extracted text captured from the public URLs you choose to monitor.
- Billing information: processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
- Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser type, and interaction events used to operate and improve the Service.
2. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To fetch, render, and compare the pages you have asked us to monitor.
- To send change alerts and transactional emails.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To detect abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with the law.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the Service, including:
- Cloud hosting and database providers.
- Stripe, for payment processing.
- Firecrawl and similar fetching providers, for retrieving public web pages on your behalf.
- AI model providers, for generating change summaries.
- Email delivery providers, for sending notifications.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
4. Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Page snapshots are retained for as long as needed to power change detection and history; older screenshots are pruned automatically once a newer capture exists. You may delete tracked pages or your account at any time.
5. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. International transfers
Our infrastructure may process data outside your country of residence. By using the Service you consent to such transfers.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in the Service.
